Default What Profession should I pick?

I'm not sure what class to pick to play proph, I actually starting playing in factions when I got into guild wars, and I was wondering what is the best class to play Proph and have fun, because a lot of skills make playing a class with those skills only...not fun...So please help me decide, Thanks.

You should start a Monk, if you're good with it, you can find a team to play with almost everywhere. And monking is good of course

Fix'd.
Necro is the ultimate PvE class without NF.

Anyway, it all depends on your playstyle.

Necro's

Ive never played one but rangers seem to run away a bit to much for my liking. Wheres the fun in shooting something with a poison arrow to run and hide while it degens to death? :/

If your new to the game, I would recommend a monk.
You can pretty much get into any pug and builds aren't too complicated, as most of them are the generic healing with possible energy management.
I'd also recommend mesmer as a secondary for Ether Signet.
Ether Signet is godly for Monks =O

Necromancers are also a good choice, as it is the generic "Spawn minions from corpses and enchant the minions with death nova"
You can also make a build revolved around BiP(Blood is power, an elite skill in the game) to be a batteries for your party's energy and you can even support the team with other necromancer support skills :P
There is also a more complicated build using a skill called Spiteful Spirit, but I won't get in-depth, as you are new o the game.

Overall, what would you prefer?
Being the core of the team?(Healing)
Or creating a mini army of time bombs?(A Minion Master)

Both are great choices no matter what you choose :P

Asking for others' opinion about the most enjoyable class will only lead you down the path of deleting that character out of boredom when you find it doesn't fit your style.

Like when I deleted 2 warriors before making my third a mule.

Necro has always been my favorite, but it's a little slow starting out and more difficult to play at lower levels. I think the best class to start out with is Warrior. You can learn the basics and pretty much every PUG will want at least one Warrior. Plus, you can be a pretty bad Warrior and get through most areas. Trust me, if you're bad, people will let you know, especially as you get further into the Campaign, simply adjust your skillbar accordingly.

I think it's a bad idea to start out with a Monk, even though you will get through the game faster. In my opinion, first time Monks are usually very bad. You'll learn enough about how to play a Monk by taking a different class through the game. Trust me, you'll know when you have a bad Monk and when playing with a good Monk, he'll let you know what you're doing wrong as a new player-usually by letting you die a few times. After you've learned the basics of pulling, aggro control, and the proper pace to take through an area/mission, you'll be much more prepared to play a Monk.

Rangers are fun to play, but it's more difficult to get into groups. The same goes for Mesmers. I haven't taken an Elementalist very far through the game. I've found them to be a little boring to play. Starting with an Assassin will either make you or break you. If you are a bad 'Sin, you'll either learn fast, or drop the class like a hot rock. The game isn't very tolerant of a bad Assassin.

I haven't played a Rit, Paragon, or Dervish, so I can't give any advise on those.

Here's what I posted on the Necro forum about playing a Nec: "I suppose every player will find a profession they Really enjoy, but if you enjoy knowing you have made a huge difference in the Mission/Quest-whatever, you're doing, the Necromancer, when played correctly, will always be at the top in whatever group you're in. A good Necro can, make warriors weak, make Monks ineffective, make enemy casters kill themselves. A mediocre Minion Master can overrun an enemy, a mediocre Spiteful Spirit Necro can destroy enemy mobs. Let's just say, try playing a Necro, you'll love it."
